David Mischoulon, M.D., Ph.D.

Director of Training, MGH CTNI; Director of Research and Alternative Remedy Studies at the Depression Clinical and Research Program, MGH; Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School

Dr. Mischoulon received his degree from the combined MD-PhD program at Boston University School of Medicine. He earned a PhD in biochemistry during this time and authored several original papers in the area of liver biochemistry. In 1998, Dr. Mischoulon received both a Young Investigator Award from the National Alliance for Research in Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) and a Program for Minority Research Training in Psychiatry Fellowship from the American Psychiatric Association, and in 2000, received a second NARSAD Young Investigator Award. He received a Career Development (K) Award from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2001 to study omega-3 fatty acids in the treatment of depression. He has been the recipient of an R01 grant from the National Institutes of Health, to continue his research on omega-3 fatty acids.

Dr. Mischoulon has authored or co-authored more than 100 original articles, review articles, and book chapters, and has also co-edited a textbook on natural medications for psychiatric disorders. He has been an invited speaker at various sites around the country and internationally, and has won several awards.
